Drug Pipeline
There has been a lot of activity in the last few years. In the last few weeks alone there has been 2 new drugs in the news. Jazz Pharmaceuticals' application to use sodium oxybate (Xyrem) for Fibromyalgia was denied due to fears of abuse. The drug is chemically similar to GHB, a date rape drug. Also this month, the FDA began considering Cymbalta, a popular anti-depressant, as a Fibromyalgia treatment. With more research we hope to have many more treatment options for Fibromyalgia in the future.
Tai Chi
A study published recently in the New England Journal of Medicine, conducted by Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston reported that Fibro fighters found relief from joint pain and other fibromyalgia symptoms from doing Tai Chi .  Tai Chi, a martial art, that includes a combination of meditation and slow, gentle movements, relaxation and deep breathing.  It is known to help with muscle strength, posture, balance, sleep, coordination, self defense and now fibromyalgia symptoms.
